Why did highheeled shoes go out of fashion for men but not for women?

I know that in the Baroque period highheels were just as fashionable for men but am not sure at what point they went out of fashion?

Because we are manly men(well most of us) and we don't need them. Besides I used to fall all the time when I wore my Mom's.
(I was little then, nothing anywhere near recently)
