How would I make stainless steel look like gold? What would I use, how do I do it, etc.?

I don't have much experience, but I'm good with crafts and a fast learner. It's for an X-mas gift so I need good answers fast. I'm looking for a cheap and easy way, but also something that looks good. Thanks!

It's a pair of goggles, so they would be worn; I'd need something durable and that won't wear off.

I would go with gold lief. Brush on the glue, apply the lief, peel off the plastic backing. Lightly brush off the piece and spray with a sealer as desired.

Gold lief is kind of a pain on some pieces, as is doesn't always stick to every part on the first application. Sometimes it is necessary to go over missed spots several times, but the technique literally takes a few moments, so it's really not bad unless you're a perfectionist and need complete coverage. However, you can minimize this by spray painting gold underneath. You can also give a piece different effects by using different colors underneath or by mixing lief colors like silver and gold, or gold and copper. .

Depending on what you're working on, the gold lief technique is an excellent way to "age" a piece by only using it in certain areas to make it appear to have worn off over time.

I'm positive you will enjoy the look of the gold lief much more than just a spray paint application, as the finished product will actually be gold.
