Age also is a factor in determining migraine symptoms since children, middle-aged and elderly people. Some people may just be experiencing normal headaches which can be treated by taking normal pain killers others may be having head aches as a result of stress, depression or even eye complications.

 

A migraine is usually described as a very painful throbbing or pounding pain around the head. Some people have the pain in one part; others have the pain around the forehead, around the eyes or at the back of the head. Some people experience this pain in one side of the head. This is known as unilateral headache which often changes from one side to another. Doctors have concluded that in unilateral headaches, the pain usually occurs on one side of the head, but if the pain seems to change, then it is considered a secondary headache which leads to other ailments such as brain tumor.

 

Some very common symptoms of migraines include a painful headache which is usually throbbing and intense; blur vision which would be affected by flickering of lights or too many colors appearing at once, sensitivity to sound, vomiting, nausea, sometimes diarrhea, cold hands and or feet and unnatural lack of color in the skin especially on the face. If they become sensitive to light, they tend to lie in a quiet dark room which is also away from sounds. The sound of someone typing on a keyboard may aggravate the pain one feels if he is suffering from a migraine hence the need to isolate. Lack of sleep, feeling irritable, fatigued, anxiety, euphoria, craving for certain foods are also some of the symptoms of migraines in some people. For females, before they  realizes that they are suffering from migraines the first time, the same symptoms may appear to be similar to others such as pregnancy or fatigue therefore wasting more time in treatment initially.

 

Some migraine sufferers may experience a visual aura without a headache. On certain occasions, one may feel some sort of pins and needles sensation in the hand, the arm or any other part of the body even the head. Some people also have hallucinations and unusual tastes and smells. In some cases, one experiences dizziness where the person sees like the environment is spinning and in other cases, seeing double vision. There are other forms of migraine where someone may feel paralyzed or weak but usually temporarily only. These symptoms occur between moments of an onset of a migraine to days before the same.

 

At advanced stages, migraines are accompanied by neurological dysfunction. This is determined by the part of the brain that is responsible for the headache which is characterized by dysfunction of the lower part of the brain that is normally responsible for the automatic activities such as balance and consciousness.
