Can you recomend me a suitable lense for fashion photography, i have an Olympus e500 digital SLR?

The 35mm-100mm is an excellent lens selling for a little over $2,000 (U.S. after instant rebate). But has the drawback of being a fairly large, heavy lens that may not be as usable when you need to be able to shoot from many angles and/or move quickly in a fast paced shoot.

The Zuiko 14-54mm f2.8/3.5 is well known as one of the best general purpose lenses available and has been a frequent "upgrade" option of E500 owners (including me). Equivalent to a 28-108mm on a 35mm camera it is available for about $375-400 ($ @ rebate as above).

The brighter f2.8 maximum aperture makes it possible to achieve selective focus while the maximum zoom is enough to allow you to back off from the subject(s) but still be close enough for good communication with models.

I can verify from personal experience (I have two of the 14-54mm lenses) that this lens is superb quality and easy to handle.

In between these is the new Supersonic Wave Drive (SWD) 12-60mm f2.8-f4, designed for the Image Stabilized Olympus camera bodies. It will work fine on the E500 and will be ready to take maximum advantage of an IS body when you upgrade in the future. Current price is about $900 (U.S.@ rebate). It has faster focusing when combined with the E3 Pro model and probably represents the next generation of digital lenses from Olympus.

You could also add the EC14 1.4X or the EC20 2X tele-converter accessory to increase the versatility of any one of these lenses by increasing the magnification. Either converters is excellent quality but will need the added brightness of one of these "faster" lenses to be truly useful.

Limerick is based in the Midwest region of Ireland and is the third largest city in Southern Ireland. For a more cultural experience of Limerick people can visit Belltable Arts Centre, a theatre, located in the heart of the city that offers a diverse range of shows from dance, theatre, music, to film comedy and many more exciting performances. The music shows are unconventional in their approach as performances are stripped of conventional features such as microphones and amplifiers.  This enables an authentic acoustic sound for audiences and in turn, creates an intimate understanding between the artist and listeners.

Also based in the heart of the city is St. Mary's Cathedral, built in 1168. The building is in fact the oldest structure that is still in operation today within the city. It is believed that many aspects of the church in its original condition are present now, for instance, features like the West Door, which was historically the entrance to the palace that the church was previously apart of. This was also the central government premises when Limerick was a Medieval Viking city. The interior and exterior of the building has been changed significantly through generational modification.

For shopping, visitors can explore Crescent Shopping Centre, the second largest indoor shopping area in the country. It is home to many popular retailers including Zara, Accessorize, Gamestop, HMV, Mexx, Monsoon, River Island, Sally West, Tommy Hilfiger, Topshop, Vero Moda and many more high street and designer labels. Crescent Shopping centre also facilitates a multiplex cinema, restaurants and a car park with a capacity to hold 2,500 vehicles.

A place that is definitely worth a visit, if you are looking for picturesque landscapes is Boyce Gardens, a national award winning garden with beautiful views of the River Shannon. The name stems from the family name that have created, maintained and developed the garden for over 20 years.  Here you will find a variety of flowers in various rooms, supplying vibrant colours that bloom throughout the year, some of which include rose, vegetable and meditation gardens. There is also a space for artists that wish to paint the scenic spectacle before them at the built in studio, where artists can relax in the tranquil environment surrounding them.

If a digital camera has no seal on LCD screen, is it an open box?

I just bought a Cannon SD1000 digital camera from Best Buy. However, my digital camera seems to have no plastic seal covering the LCD screen. I thought that all brand new cameras should come with a plastic seal protecting the LCD screen. Since mine has no covering, is it an opened item?

My SD630 didn't come with it, neither did my aunt's SD800 or my gf's SD630 as well.

I don't think it's just yours....
I think Canon just doesn't cover the LCD screen being the camera comes wrapped in that soft plastic wrapper straight out of the box.

can you help me decide on a watch? bulova vs michael kors?

im looking for a chronograph silver watch and have 2 in mind one is a larger face michael kors looks very chich while the other more expensive but i think more 'timeless' is a bulova chrono with diamond accents.

I would go with the Bulova. Micahel Kors is owned by Fossil and is just a glorified Fossil remake. Nothing wrong with that, I won a couple of Fossils and absolutely love them, but I think Bulova is a better watch.

If you want the price of the Michael Kors with a little more fashion, try looking at Fossil, Guess or Invicta. Great looking well-built watches for less money.

For so long the applied science of computers and electro-mechanical engineering has ushered in robotics to vastly improve mass production in just about any complex machinery on earth.

For most of the last half of the 20th century, robotics have replaced humans in performing tedious, repetitive manufacturing routines with none of employment-related costs like fringes and leave benefits. Of course, you still need to have maintenance downtimes on these robotic contraptions.

Autonomic Robots

One can define a robot as an autonomous computer. Its electro-mechanical features that can manipulate objects, recognize sights and sounds and perform mundane repetitive or dangerous tasks are simple I/O interfaces like you PC printers to get things done based on an inferential engine that can create instructions without the help of human intervention. In short, they have complete autonomy.

Some of the marvels of the last years of the 20th century have harnessed robotic science to engineer automatic response from computer-assisted contraptions. When your car is on cruise along the highway, it is basically invoking a robotic autonomy that controls the car without the driver doing anything, except to manually over-ride it and thus, disengages the robotic-like autonomy. When the new generation aircrafts form Airbus and Boeing are on cruise in mid-flight, the same robotic-like autonomy is engaged.

Nearer to home, when you program your microwave ovens or the VCR player to start recording at a certain time of the day, you are benefiting from robotic-like features, Even the music jukeboxes of the 50s have robotic features that allow a bank of 45 rpm records to be selected on cue, played and then returned by a robotic arm.

Robotic Applications

There are now a number of prototype robots possessing locomotive and androgenic similarities to humans. They can walk, climb steps and even play ping pong. Earlier, thinking computers that can process billions of simulations have successfully played and defeated chess champions. Technology now needs to put all that into computational power in a robotic application the size of a human brain and can be motive enough to become human companions. Sound like science fiction, alright. But it will still take a generation or two to get there.

In the meantime, robotics have increasingly found their way in scientific exploration, police and military application as well as industrial manufacturing. You have robots that can be deployed to analyze volcanoes and hurricane formation and other dangerous exploratory endeavors that are hazardous to health.

Unmanned vehicles with acute sensors are deployed by para-military police to survey criminal activity and location prior to an attack. In actual military combats, similar devices on flying aircraft or helicopter-like drones can penetrate hostile territories for both surveillance and bombing missions.

They have the same lethal promise as missiles but still return to base after a successful bombing run. NASA has likewise deployed unmanned robotic spacecraft remotely controlled to explore the outer reaches of the galaxy where human sojourn remains difficult.

Peaceful uses of robotic science has found it way, not only in manufacturing plants, but in hospitals that employ robots on wheels to deliver medication to patients and can interface with computerized elevator to get into floors. The day will come when all household help from robots will became a reality. GP

Canon is a name synonymous with printers. Great style, affordability and excellent design make these printers a popular consumer choice. While Canon is still releasing printers for 2009, let us take a look at the ones that have already made it to the popular list for the year.

The Canon ImageClass MF4350d

Bringing in a new level of efficiency to small office and home operations is this great All-in-One from Canon. The MF4350d has a duplex output for printing, receiving faxes and copying. This feature reduces paper and canon ink cartridges consumption and therefore costs. The auto feeder can accommodate up to 35 sheets. The Canon PIXMA MP620

This inkjet is another great buy from Canon. A printer copier and scanner all rolled into one, the canon PIXMA MP620 can print with speeds till 26ppm for black and 17ppm for color. The maximum resolution for a black print is 600dpi x 600dpi and 9600dpi x 2400dpi for a color print. The printer also comes with superior scanning capabilities with an optical scan resolution of 2400 dpi x 4800dpi. The PIXMA MP620 has superior copying capabilities as well. Features like face brightening, borderless copying, fading correction, intensity etc. make it a sure winner. The printer also comes with wireless enabled connectivity.

The Canon PIXMA MX860

Another great All-in-One from Canon, the PIXMA MX860 is a printer, fax, copier and scanner. It wireless technology allows printing from whichever room you want in your office or home. What's more is that it has 5 separate printer ink tanks and can print with a 9600dpi x 2400dpi in color. The fax features include an auto feeder which holds 35 sheets along with a duplex printing technology. Additional features like PDF's that are password protected make it easier to distribute confidential files. The printer has a compatible memory card reader option and Bluetooth technology that makes printing without a computer possible. The inking system with 7 printer ink cartridges makes sure that prints come out looking rich and that color last.

The Canon PIXMA MX850
Copying 31ppm, scanning of photographs at a dpi of 4800 x 9600 and printing photographs that look like they are straight out a photo lab is what you will get when you buy the PIXMA MX850. The crisp and sharp text and detailed and brilliant photographs that this machine produces should impress you. The printer comes with built in technology that supports memory cards and digital cameras. It also has Ethernet facilities that allow it to be used as a network printer. The PIXMA MX850 also makes for an excellent home printer. How to bypass my car alarm when the starter is cut off!?

I have a carvox cx-999, both my remotes are dead! So I have to break into my car which triggers the alarm and cuts the starter so my car will not start. How can I bypass this? I dont care at this point if i have to destroy the alarm but if there is a way to do it so I can reconnect when I get replacement remotes that would be great. I dont know if it matters but I have a 04 Impreza Sport. Thanks!

Find the alarm module and unplug all the wiring until you get new remotes.
